ROUND 15 REPORT

posted by admin at  10:33 || under Cricket Club Results and News.

A good result from round 15 with A grade and A Reserve having wins but B Grade going down by 66 runs.

After an early start by some of the members to get our home ground up to a respectable standard to play on,it was A Grade taking on Sassafras at home.Sassy won the toss and sent Don in and they posted 162 all out in the 40th over.Nearly everyone got a start but noone went on with it ito make a big score.Apples top scored with 25 and along with BT (22) and Beau (20) they posted a defendable total.Sassy was in trouble from the start being 3 for 8 in the 6th over and then 7 for 39 but some big hitting by the lower order gave them a chance of a win,but it was not to be with Don running out winners by 11 runs in bowling Sassy out for 151.Schuey was again the star with the ball taking 4-26 but was well supported by Plummers (2-20),Beau (2-33) and Apples (2-45).

A Reserve played MCCC at Byard Park and won the toss and sent them in.For the second week in a row Kell got a wicket of the first ball of the innings and the Colts where in trouble at 4 for 21 ,but they also had a middle order revival and eventually was bowled out for 141 in the 44th over.Kell picked up 3-30,with Curt taking 2-12 and Miffa 2-19 to be the best bowlers for the day.We achieved the target in the 30th over with PJ blasting them around the park in making 51 and was helped along the way by Belly who made 29 and Mark with 20.

B Grade was at home to Spreyton Maroon and bowled first after winning the toss.Spreyton made 265 after 45 overs with Billy picking up 4-36 in a great bowling effort on the small ground. All the other wickets where shared with another four bowlers picking up 1 wicket each. The target was just aa little too large for the batters and where bowled out for 196 in only 34 overs.Youdy top scored with 59 and along with Bres (31) and Geardy (30) contributed the bulk of the runs.

See ya next week!!

ROUND 14 REPORT

posted by admin at  17:31 || under Cricket Club Results and News.

Well as at the time of writing it is only 1 win from 3 games with A Reserve winning,B Grade losing and A Grade's result still up in the air and awaiting review by the MVCA.

A Reserve hosted Nook at home and won the toss and had a bat. We got off to a good opening partnership of 92 with PJ scoring 59 and Curt (38) and then everyone else made a contribution with Mark being the second highest run scorer with 54 in our total of 5-267 off out 50 overs. When it came to bowling Nook was in trouble losing a wicket first ball off the bowling of Kell and they never recovered to be bowled out for 150 in the 47th over. Best bowlers were Doogs taking 3 and Kell in a great spell of bowling capturing 2,with the other wickets being shared around.

B Grade travelled to Wesley Vale Primary to take on Port Sorell and it was the same as last week, with the batting let them down in only scoring 99 off 29 overs. Youdy top scored with 24 and Kezza made 17.It only took Port Sorell 20 overs to get the target with Roshy pickiing up 3 wickets and Ozzie 1 in a pretty lack lustre day for the team all round.

Will update this post with the A Grade result as we know more.

Bye for now!!

Update:

After a review of the score sheets from the A Grade game by the MVCA, Don has won the game and received the four points from the match to move them to second position on the ladder.

ROUND 13 REPORT

posted by admin at  14:33 || under Cricket Club Results and News.

Round 13 was not a great result with only 1 win from 3 games and this time it was A Grade that got back into the winners circle.

A Grade was at home to Mersey Colts and batted first and finished with a total of 7/238 off their 50 overs. They didn't start that well being 2-10 off only 4 overs but had some good partnerships through the innings to be at 7-143 off 38 overs and then Schuey 57 not out and Ducky 41 not out finished off the innings in posting a 96 run partnership in the last 12 overs. The main run scorers where Rousey (50), Apples (36) and BT (25).When it came our turn to bowl Schuey had a day out with the ball as well, taking 5-40 and was well supported by Dion with 2-24 in bowling the Colts out for 179 in the 47th over.

A Reserve was away to Sassafras and got an absolute flogging by 182 runs. Sassy batted first and was bowled out in the 45th over but the damage was done as they had already chalked up 317 runs. The main wicket takers where the Moth with 3 and Mark with 2.Our batting let us down again for the second consecutive game and we only scored 135 in reply being bowled out in the 38th over.Mick was the top scorer with 56 and Vonny the next with 14.

B Grade played away to Spreyton Gold and had a day like A Reserve. They batted first and was bowled out for 100 in the 33rd over.Troy top scored with 39 and didn't receive much support with Frenchy the next best on 16.Spreyton made light work of the total and achieved the runs in only 13 overs.Mick Walker was the only bowler to take a wicket as Spreyton was only 1 down when they past the total.

Round 12 was not too flash with only B Grade securing a win over MCCC.

A Grade was away to Forth and posted a competitive total of 9/207 off their 50 overs.Boof was the main run scorer amassing 70 opening the innings and he was supported by Rousey with 29 and Apples with 23 and a good 30 run last wicket stand by Real and Dion to take the total over the 200 mark for the first time since round 5.Forth batted right through to the 49th over and made the runs with 8 wickets down. The bowling honours this round go to Apples and Beau taking 3 wickets each.

A Reserve was at home to Port Sorell and for the second time this year went down in a fairly weak batting display most most of the team.PJ top scored with 33 and Pig made 31 not out in a team total of 120,only 2 other batsman made double figures. It was one of those days as we couldn't get regular wickets to put Port under any sort of pressure and hey made the runs with only 4 wickets down.Curt picked up 2 wickets and James 1 in good bowling displays.

B Grade held up the club with 41 run win over MCCC on the Don #2 ground.Batting first they made 9/285 off their 50 overs with Hayden and Terry top scoring with 58 and with some good supporting scores by Kezza (46),Holla (43 n.o.) and Ozzie (19).When we was bowling the game could have gone either way with the Colts being 2-180 at one stage but the boys pegged them back and eventually bowled them out for 244.Best of the bowlers was Holla and young Harrison taking 3 wickets each and Terry picking up a couple.

The T20 was finally played against Riana on Sunday and we went down by 5 wickets in a very close game.Batting first we made 5/159 off our 20 overs with Matty top scoring with 49,Real made 39 and Rousey 36.Riana got the winnings runs off the second last ball of their innings with Pig picking up 2 wickets.

Thats it for this week, hopefully things will turn round this weekend and we come away with some better performances from both A and A reserve.

Batting wise it was a disastrous start being 3-2 after only 5 overs and then 4-17 after 9,but that was when the fightback started with new player Dylan Rouse and Terry who put on 71 for the next wicket with Terry making 38 and Dylan going on to score 60.Then a few more quick wickets fell to be 8-123 and then it was Doogs and the Moth who put on a 42 run partnership to see the side over the line for the win.Browny ended up 29 not out with Doogs scoring 27.

The 20/20 match against Riana was cancelled agan due to the wet weather on Sunday.
